“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13
Dear Father,
The headlines for this one day are enough to make strong knees buckle. The uncertainty in Egypt, unrest in Libya and Yemen, Iranian warships passing through the Suez Canal, a major earthquake in New Zealand, pirates off Somalia, protests in Wisconsin, surging gas and food prices all around, and the frightening list goes on and on. Troubled by the onslaught of bad news, I just needed a moment alone with you. I decided on taking a walk during lunch. You met me in the sweetest way. Just walking and talking to you about my worries of the day I caught a very familiar whiff in the air. It was grass. A groundskeeper was mowing the first grass of an awakening spring. It gave me hope and a fresh perspective. Spring will come. Yes, it will come and new life with splash the local scenery with color. The tiredness of winter will fade. And I remember that you are God and God alone. You cannot be overthrown by governments, threatened by warships, toppled by an economic crisis, or shaken by earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, or tornadoes. You are unmovable. You are my rock and my fortress. With those thoughts my steps became lighter and the sun seemed to shine a little brighter. You captured my heart and hope is renewed. I don’t have to worry because you will take care of me. This old world may rock and roll with turmoil but I am safe in your keeping. You are everlasting and you are faithful. Your kingdom will come and I can rejoice. My life is but a gentle breeze in this sphere but it will be more than I ever dreamed of in the world to come. Thank you Father for the security of your arms, the awareness of your presence, and for the sweet fragrance of spring’s first clippings. Though there may be more frosty mornings in the weeks ahead I have had a taste of spring and it is wonderful. Hello world
Love, Penny
