“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”
Romans 12:15
Heavenly Father,
How I praise you for the privilege of prayer and the joy of standing before you on the behalf of others. Today I have stood before you rejoicing over the wonderful new place you have brought one of my friends. You have blessed her in a magnificent way and my heart sings with gratitude and thanksgiving before your throne. Thank you for allowing me to partake in the overflow of her blessing by rejoicing with her. And yes, even this same day, you have allowed me to weep in your presence over a precious dear one who is in the midst of a hard and difficult place. And sometimes that is what is needed most – simply weep with those who are hurting. Maybe we talk way too much when really what would be more beneficial is just our presence and the realness of our own tears mingled with theirs. Hmm, help me to remember that when I rattle on and on to those in need about how I think “this and that.” There is a time to talk and time to be silent. Help me to discern each of those times. Thank you Father for the body of Christ – your church. I pray that I will be an encourager to my brothers and sisters in that body. There is no greater honor than to carry them to you in prayer, sometimes with great joy and sometimes with deep heartache. And I praise you from the depths of my heart for those who have come alongside me and rejoiced and wept with me. They are treasures that I would not take the world for. What a gift!
Love always,
Penny
