“For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and
arrayed me in a robe of righteousness as a bridegroom adorns his head
like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
Isaiah 61:10b
Dear Father,
This past week I went shopping for an Easter dress and discovered I already had one. It was bought and paid for about 2000 years ago. Jesus purchased my Easter dress while His own clothes were being torn and gambled over. He bought me a garment that never stains, never wrinkles, is never outdated, does not need dry-cleaning or a storage bag and I wear it everyday. I am clothed in salvation and covered in a robe of His righteousness. The price was enormous and took His life to purchase. O sweet Jesus, lover of my soul, I gladly wear this garment of salvation and pray I honor You every single day as I am reminded over and over that Your name is on the label. In just a little while I will wear this same dress to a wedding. My mama always said Easter clothes were great for weddings, funerals, and any other dressy event. Little did I realize that could mean this type of clothing. I am going to a wedding that will end all weddings as You, my Bridegroom, lift the veil off the face of Your glorious church. I can see it now – my snow white dress spotless and immaculate and my golden robe sparkling with jewels of Your character as I and the countless other saints surround Your throne in jubilant thanksgiving and joyful song. No need to stay away from this party, I already have the dress. Now I need to be about the business of telling others where to find these (Easter/wedding) garments. It begins at the cross…
Love,
Penny
