“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.”
Job 8:21
Dear Father,
I want to laugh today. I want to have a laughing fit with You. One of those hold your side, lose your breath, tears roll down the cheeks, and flounder on the floor kind of fits. Childlike laughter. I love to laugh and I praise You that in Your creativity and wonder You designed these bodies to laugh. Sadly it seems for adults that laughter is often brought on or associated with less than nice things. Or we think we are too mature, professional, sophisticated, or maybe just too plain busy for such frivolity. But I know it does not have to be that way. We can be tickled and giggle without the expense of another. So many humorous things come my way every day but often I am too preoccupied stomping out ‘fires’ that I don’t notice them. Help me Father to enjoy the funny moments and not take everything so seriously. We are not here on this planet that long. I don’t want to grow old without earning some laugh-lines around my mouth and some creases around my eyes. Yep, joy-lines that is what I call them. Oh may my face be a roadmap of decades of laughter. Now I may be the only girl praying for wrinkles but at least with this particular kind I know I will have really lived. Help me pitch my head back and laugh out loud knowing in my spirit that You are laughing right alongside me. Hmm… what does Jesus’ laughter sound like? Can’t wait to find out.
Love,
Penny
