“A Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

Dear Father,
Today is Christmas. Oh I know it is only December 9th but in the darkness of this pre-dawn morning my heart crept into a distant stable and I saw a newborn King. No one had to tell me to ‘shhh’… there was just an overwhelming hush eclipsing my soul as I approached His manger throne of sticks, stone, and straw. There was no loud, celebratory music with much merry-making – just quietness. The celebrations will come later. But now in this hour there is only reverence, holiness, and awesomeness. The manger is low to the ground but that is not why I kneel. I kneel because I am in the presence of the King and there is no other way to approach except through bended knee and bowed heart. Ever so slowly I raise my head and behold His face. Tiny little bubbles form on His fresh lips and it looks as if He is trying to say something. Actually He is speaking. He speaks love and humility by allowing Himself to enter our world as such a tiny one. I hear Him cry and my heart almost stops. Those sounds are from the throat of God. God crying for me! If I never hear anything else in all my life that will be enough. I answer back with my own tears of repentance and thankfulness. Love born. I feel a compelling need to touch Him. Do I dare? I reach for Him and touch my finger to His indescribably soft hands and He immediately grabs my finger and clutches it with His whole hand. He clings to me and my heart clings to Him. Those same hands will hold me for the rest of my life and will be the hands that escort me into heaven and into your presence dear Father. Thank you God for giving me a fresh vision of Christmas – Christ day. Now help me to live this newborn day in the newness of Christ. Until I close my eyes tonight may I proclaim that a Savior is born and He is Christ the Lord. Amen.

On bended knee,
Penny
