“And you will be called priests of the Lord,

you will be named ministers of our God.”

Isaiah 61:6

Dear Father,

It can be quite scary to ponder that we are named ministers of God. Do you know what you have with me? Raw play-dough, that’s for sure. Well that is my human-eyed side of thinking about it. On my own I can do nothing to glorify you. But that is where the Spirit does His work. By Him and through Him a chunk of clay becomes empowered and commissioned to serve you. Serving you in big ways, small ways, loud ways, quiet ways, on highways and byways, anyway and everyway, such are your ministers. The commission comes from the Commander not from the soldier. We do not pick our positions or places of service. We just go at your command. It is marvelous to think that on my uniform, that robe of righteousness handed from Jesus, that you have placed a calling and name on it of your choosing. You have strategically placed me in my present place of duty and for how long a tour I don’t know. But my job is to minister in Jesus’ Name to those around me; the lost and found, the rich and poor, the sick and healthy, the young and old, the free and the bound. It is a calling I do not take lightly. I could ignore it, play around with it, change it to my liking, try to make a buck or two off of it, but my oh my, the day will come when I am called front and center and I will face my Commander. Will I be found a faithful servant? Will I have held my post and done my job? Or will I be a weak link that allowed the enemy to breach the walls or surreptitiously enter past my guard? No! He is not getting through on my watch. I will keep the night vigilance and by the power of God’s Spirit living in me I will be His faithful minister to His people within my scope. Reporting as ordered, Sir.

Love,

Penny
