Tell It!

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.”
Isaiah 61:1a

Dear Father,
Those ancient words spoken by the prophet Isaiah and then fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ continue in a fashion of sort through me and countless other pilgrims throughout the ages. Your Spirit is on me and in fact within me. Powerful thought – powerful truth! The same Spirit that hovered over the face of the deep in the beginning of creation moves in me.
The same Spirit that spoke through prophets of old gives me a burning desire to share Jesus. The same Spirit that enabled my Lord to go to the cross enables me to carry my own cross. Do I believe this? Yes! You cannot lie so it is so. Amen. The Enabler has come. He has come with a purpose in mind. So what am I to do? Honor Him, trust Him, obey Him and proclaim the good news! Oh but I am not a preacher, maybe a Sunday School teacher at best. But I hear You say, “Preach it child! Tell them the good news.” The good news that God is with man – Immanuel. The good news that death is defeated. The good news that we have an advocate pleading for us in heaven. The good news that there is life and it is abundant even now. And this good news is for the poor; the poor in spirit, those begging for a drink of refreshment – the Living Water kind. The dirty who long to be changed and made clean. Those who are bankrupt in heart and desperate for deliverance. Thank You dear Father for taking this poor, thirsty, dirty, bankrupt, desperate waif and giving her abundant life in the midst of it all. Thank You for giving me Your Spirit as my Guide, Comforter, Helper, Defender, and Encourager. Now help me I pray, take what You have given me and share it with a dark, dying, destitute world.  Let Your light shine through a transparent heart. Amen.

Love always,
Penny
