Throne

“There before me was a throne…” Revelation 4:2

Awesome, Powerful, Almighty, Everlasting God,
How do I approach Your throne? You who sit surrounded by an emerald rainbow so magnificent, my far-flung imagination cannot even begin to capture the image. Lightning and peals of thunder exploding in seismic quakes, colors I’ve yet to discover radiating with indescribable brilliance flowing from Your majestic throne, splendor and glory filling up every crevice of space and all of this is real and happening right this minute. This is no fairytale, no midnight dream, not make-believe, and certainly not a hallucination. Somewhere there is a real heaven with a real throne. Day and night the cries of “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is, and is to come” go up before You. And yet today, this very day, You invite me to come before You and talk to You as a child talks to her father. I don’t have to gain permission from someone. I don’t have to phone ahead and make reservations. I don’t have to pay a fee or beg for a glimpse. I come because I am Your child. The one You chose, blood-bought and completely made right by the Son whom You love – Jesus. So I come into Your presence today in faith. I sit at the King’s table and dangle my feet from the chair as I feed on Your Word and drink Your Living Water. Always welcomed, always wanted. And the glory still shines, the lightning still bolts, the thunder still jolts, the colors still emanate, the praises still resonate, and I fall prostrate. Worship! Who am I that You are mindful of me? You are a God who is so huge that You call the billions and billions of stars by name and yet You know me personally, so intimately. You’ve numbered every hair on my moppy-head and know each thought from the farthermost corners of my mind. And I worship afresh. Breathless, humbled, overwhelmed, consumed – please accept my offering of praise this early morning. You are God Most High and my whole being cries “Yes and Amen”!

Love,
Penny
